Doctor Biography

Dr. Sanjoy Kumer Das started his career at the renowned Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital. Dr. Das is a knowledgeable, senior clinician and a surgeon who believes in the quality of work and has more than 15 years of experience in the field of ophthalmology. Currently, he is attached with Bangladesh Eye Hospital as an expert in Retina, ROP, Uveitis and Phaco surgeon. Dr. Das is proficient in all types of retinal surgeries including complicated retinal detachment and ROP surgeries. He has performed more than 11000 retinal, ROP and Phaco Surgeries till date.

Dr. Das was the head of Retina and Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) departments at Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital (IIEI&H). He has served IIE&H for 11 year. He completed his basic medical education with distinction from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet followed by post- graduation from National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital, Dhaka.

Dr. Das completed a long-term fellowship (15 months) in Vitreo-Retina from L V Prasad Eye Institute , Hyderabad, India in March, 2013. He underwent further fellowship training in the field of Uvetis and Ocular inflammation at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, India which popularly called “Temple of Eye”. Additionally, he also did a short-term fellowship in management of ROP and Paediatric retinal disorders at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India. He has received Orbis International Fellowship in Cataract surgery from Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital.

Dr. Das is keenly involved in academic enhancement, having participated in numerous national and international conferences. He holds a particular interest in management of Diabetic retinopathy, Paediatric retinal diseases, Ocular inflammation, and Retinal vascular occlusions. Through ROP screening and & treatment programs, he has been closely involved in the prevention of childhood blindness in the modern age. He is a member of the vitreo-retina societies of Bangladesh (BVRS) and India (VRSI).
